Etymology edit

A derivation in -άς (-ás), probably from an o-stem *κέμος (*kémos, hornless), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱem- (hornless). Compare Proto-Germanic *hindiz (hind, doe) and Lithuanian šmùlas (without horn).
