Usage notes edit
- Note that слыхать has a limited usage, and in standard language is not conjugated in the present tense, future tense or imperative. It is used only as the infinitive or in the past tense:
- О нём ничего́ не слыха́ть ― O njom ničevó ne slyxátʹ ― One hears nothing from him.
- О ней давно́ ничего́ не слыха́ть. ― O nej davnó ničevó ne slyxátʹ. ― She hasn’t been heard from in a long time.
- Слыха́ли ли вы об э́том? ― Slyxáli li vy ob étom? ― Have you heard about it?
- Нет, не слыха́л. ― Net, ne slyxál. ― No, I haven’t heard.
