Etymology edit

The word is attested only once and is derived Middle Persian *hwlʾk' (xvarāk). Compare Persian خوراک (xvarâk, xorâk, food). These derive from Proto-Iranian *hwar- (to eat, consume), whence another borrowing խորտիկ (xortik); see it.
