נִנְעַל • (nin'ál) third-singular masculine past (nif'al construction, active counterpart נָעַל)

1. to be locked
   • c. 17th century, Shalom Shabazi, אם ננעלו:

     אִם נִנְעֲלוּ דַּלְתֵי נְדִיבִים / דַּלְתֵי מָרוֹם לֹא נִנְעֲלוּ

     If locked are the doors of the charitable, / The doors of heaven are not locked.

2. to be locked in
3. to be out of reach, unavailable
4. to become introverted, withdrawn
5. to be closed, adjourned
6. (slang) to be locked onto, stuck on
