From the root خ ب ر • (ḵ-b-r) inherited from Proto-Semitic, denoting being well associated or integrated with, to be fully involved with, to know a matter or a group inside and out, to be able to give information about them; cognates with Aramaic חבר (“to associate with, to join”) and Hebrew חָבַר (“to join, to be friends with, to associate with, to be acquainted”).
