From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (dwhtl /duxtar/), oblique case of [Book Pahlavi needed] (dwht' /duxt/), from Old Persian *duxçī-, from Proto-Iranian *dúgdā. Cognate with Northern Kurdish dot, Pashto لور (lur).
