Etymology edit

From Beja enkulib (sugar canes), plural of enkuluub. Words suffixed with ب (-(V)b) often originate from Beja. Compare عنقريب (ʕangarēb, wooden bed), بعنيب (baʕanēb, a kind of eagle), ويكاب (wēkāb, an ingredient of sauce).
