Etymology edit

From ცივი (civi, cold) with the verb არს (ars, to be). The verb soon turned impersonal and got new screeve forms (ციოდა (cioda), ციოდეს (ciodes)).

ცივა (civa) (third-person singular present indicative)

  1. (impersonal) to be cold (weather, outside...)
    გარეთ ძალიან ცივა.
    garet ʒalian civa.
    It's really cold outside.
  2. (intransitive) Nonstandard spelling of სცივა (sciva).
    მეც მცივა და მასაც ცივა.
    mec mciva da masac civa.
    I'm cold and he's cold too.
