Etymology edit

From ცხელი (cxeli, hot) with the verb არს (ars, to be). The verb soon turned impersonal and got new screeve forms (ცხელოდა (cxeloda), ცხელოდეს (cxelodes)).

ცხელა (cxela) (third-person singular present indicative)

  1. (impersonal) to be hot (weather, outside...)
    დღეს ძაან ცხელა, ვიწვი.
    dɣes ʒaan cxela, vic̣vi.
    Today it's really hot, I'm burning.
  2. (intransitive) Nonstandard spelling of სცხელა (scxela).
    ლელას ცხელა.
    lelas cxela.
    Lela's (feeling) hot.
