Etymology edit

First attested in the Neung'eomgyeong eonhae (楞嚴經諺解 / 능엄경언해), 1461, as Middle Korean 드러나다 (Yale: tulenata).

Originally 들— (deul-, “to enter”) + —어 (-eo, infinitive suffix) + 나다 (nada, “to come out, appear”), literally "to enter and appear".[1]
