Korean edit

Etymology edit

From 부르— (bureu-, to be full, bulging) + 뜨— (tteu-, to open (eyes)).

tteuda was ptu- in Middle Korean, hence the intrusive -p in this compound. Non-word-medial pt was reduced to tense tt, as in Modern tteuda.
