Korean edit

Etymology edit

사철 (sacheol, four seasons) +‎ 나무 (namu, tree), presumably because it is an evergreen; compare to the English name.

사철나무 (sacheollamu)

Pronunciation edit

  • (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈsʰa̠(ː)t͡ɕʰʌ̹ɭɭa̠mu]
  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
