Cognate with Ancient Greek -αν- (-an-), which was often added simultaneously with a nasal infix, e.g. λιμπάνω (limpánō, to be absent).

Usage notes

A very productive suffix. Often used to remake already-existing verbs, as in անիծանեմ (anicanem), հարցանեմ (harcʻanem), լքանեմ (lkʻanem).
