Abshoven
Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested as abshoven in 1253-1254. Compound of abt (“abbot, father superior”) and the dative plural form of hof (“farm, farmstead”). The name probably references the abbot of the Monastery of Saint-Vaast at Arras, which owned properties in nearby Munstergeleen.
See also Limburgish Abshaove.
