Etymology edit

1763 from Forsskål, who has recorded Arabic عَدَن (ʕadan) for Adenia venenata and added the suffix +‎ -ia; it stayed the only known species of the genus for a century. Doublet of Adenium for which the Arabic name is used.

A taxonomic genus within the family Passifloraceae – flowering plants in the passionflower family, found in Southeast Asia and tropical and subtropical Africa.
