Borrowed from Spanish Cacahuatepec, from a Nahuan language; equivalent to Classical Nahuatl cacahuatl (“cacao”) + tepētl (“mountain”) + -c (“at, to, from”). The Nahuan word is a calque of a Mixtec word; compare San Juan Colorado Mixtec Yucu Suhva (“cacao mountain”).
