The word periodic shouldn't be here. It's not from Latin per, but Greek περί.

The word has two different etymologies (did you look at periodic?). The less common one is used in chemistry, and is composed of per + iodic. —CodeCat 21:10, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
