From Spanish Córdoba, from Arabic قُرْطُبَة (Qurṭuba), from Latin Corduba, from Phoenician 𐤒𐤓𐤕𐤉𐤅𐤁𐤏𐤉 (qrtywbʿy or Qartuba), from 𐤒𐤓𐤕 (qrt or qart, city) + 𐤉𐤅𐤁𐤏𐤉 (ywbʿy, Juba) after the Numidian king Juba I. As South American provinces, named after the Spanish city.
