Finkum
Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested as finckum in 1335. Derived from a compound of an unclear first element and Old Frisian hēm (“home, settlement”). The first element is not vinke (“low-quality turf”) or a personal name. The Dutch version of the toponym was borrowed from a significantly older form of the Frisian name.
