George Dog Island

English edit

Etymology edit

The island is named for formerly hosting Caribbean monk seals, the barking of which was at first thought to be produced by dogs. The element George was added to distinguish the island from neighbouring islands in the Dog Islands. (This etymology is missing or incomplete.
