Etymology

edit

Composed of a cognate of Latin decus (ornament), decet (to look like, to befit) + a cognate of Sanskrit बल (bala, strength, power) and of Old Church Slavonic бол҄ии (bolʹii, great). Possibly a loanword, since the k sound would have evolved into a sibilant in a proper Daco-Moesian language.[1]

Proper noun

edit

*Dekebalus

  1. a male given name
