- What other language would you base it on? Most of the words on here were even attested in Greek and Latin. Sika is a word we know for sure existed and so is Dei-páturos. And of course I will use Albanian for Illyrian as Albanian is an Illyrian language. It's like if I used Vulgar Latin to reconstruct Classical Latin. Balltari (talk) 01:11, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
- Illyrian is an entirely different situation from Latin. Illyrian has no primary attestation and is chiefly found names and places, to which postulating their meanings is highly contentious. Secondly, you're assuming Albanian is descended from Illyrian which itself is also not agreed upon by all linguists. - It isn't even mentioned by Roman authors as a specifically Illyrian word? The case couldn't possibly be weaker for the above reconstruction.

- NB Reconstruction:Proto-Albanian/tsikā already exists. Where is the Illyrian link coming from? sīca also says "perhaps via Illyrian", citing Orel, but Illyrian is not mentioned anywhere in the Orel entry (nor the form sika for that matter). If the reconstruction is just being taken as a given between PIE and Proto-Albanian that seems insufficient. —Al-Muqanna المقنع (talk) 01:28, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
