I think this word is female, not male, although the person that it refers to (the colleague) can be male. At least adjectives, etc, have to changed to female form -> моя коллега просит ей не мешать

It's male and female - мой коллега and моя коллега. --Anatoli 22:07, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
