Which is true? "Aimée" (which also exists as the name) would be "loved" (of a woman), and "amie" is friend, but I wouldn't think it comes from both - probably just from the first. — Paul G 17:15, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Amee is indeed the correct Old French for loved (feminine singular). I think ami(e) is etymologically related, they probably both go back to amo anyway. Mglovesfun (talk) 22:08, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
