I believe that this word is illegitimate, and should be discouraged, insofar as it is used to mean to "put to bed" or (acostarse) to go to bed. As in English, https://quod.lib.umich.edu/m/middle-english-dictionary/dictionary/MED392, there is no such antecedent in English "acost" or "accost".
It's cousin in English "accost" similarly has devolved into usage totally detached from its ancestry.
