Was marked for speedy, but I can find two uses in Google Books, so I wonder if it can be salvaged. Our def is most likely crap though. This, that and the other (talk) 12:15, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- There appear to be three more-or-less clearly distinct senses in the various citations I can find: 1) a bloviator, 2) a hopeless visionary (a person who "builds castles in the air" etc.), 3) literally one who trades in air. - Cited under one sense, which I've defined as "a hopeless visionary, a quixotic schemer". The 1684 quotation, which I initially read as just meaning a bloviator, apparently does have this meaning—airmongering comes up in connection with chameleons in another contemporary work, discussed here. I've added the two "literal" citations I found at Citations:airmonger, but since I'm fairly sure it's wordplay in both cases I don't think it's really a distinct sense. —Al-Muqanna المقنع (talk) 15:27, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
