I sometimes find that this word is hard to spell. Thank goodness for Microsoft Word. Possibilities of spellings include: ackward, aquard, and akward. -24.23.147.216 03:46, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I personally can't see anyone using the words "awkwarder" and "awkwardest". This is an example of bad, lazy English; should these be removed? — This comment was unsigned.

Personal knowledge is not determinitive of the content of our entries. When you write your book, you might wish not to use those words, but the authors of more than a hundred published books use "awkwarder". We don't say that usage is wrong. I'm sure you can find a book that will agree with you that it is wrong. DCDuring TALK 10:49, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

What about "awkwards"? AmericanLeMans (talk) 20:00, 14 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

missing sense? edit

"awkward-sounding" — sense 2 seems closest but is lacking (awkward-sounding has no embarrassment) —umbreon126 00:56, 29 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Awkward to sth. edit

"An old hardned Sinner bred up in ungodliness from his Youth, is as awkward to Prayer or good Duties, as a stone to flie upwards;"

Meaning something like averse, or perhaps ill-disposed, I would say. Multiple Mooses (talk) 16:31, 11 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
