"Fling" in Britain has the meaning either "to throw" or else has the second meaning listed "unrestrained indulgence" (e. a fling at the races, a fling ie. party). It does not have any sexual meaning in Britain, the first meaning listed. That is at most a derivation that I have _never_ heard.
