Could not the etymology of this word come from the Latin manus meaning "hand," so that "man-made" would mean handmade, not human-made?--Geremia 05:20, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is no evidence that it has that etymology. The meaning and all early uses point to an origin from simply (deprecated template usage) man + (deprecated template usage) made. --EncycloPetey 05:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
