Etymology for French "noir" meaning drunk?

Wikipedia claims it refers to the drinking game La vache qui tache, which involves forfeits of marking oneself with black spots from a burnt cork etc. True or not? Equinox ◑ 20:04, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
