From the above and below I merged in two intransitive verb meanings:

1. To act optimistically or as an optimist.
2. To become optimal.

Other dictionary sites do list two intransitive meanings, [www.allwords.com/word-optimize.html] has:

To be optimistic or act optimistically.
To become optimal.

[1] has the acting as an optimist meaning recorded in 1844 and making the most of meaning in 1857.

I left the related terms untouched, and finally I synchronised the changes with optimise.
