Irish slang? edit

Just been told by a drunken Irishman (from Dublin) that "rapid" means something like "good" or "decent". Can we confirm? Equinox 23:57, 27 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wright’s English Dialect Dictionary has “RAPID, adj. Lin. Nhp. Glo. Ken. Sus. Wil. Som. Dev. Violent; severe; esp. used of pain.” Halliwell’s Dictionary of Archaic and Provincial Words has “RAPID. Gay. Var. dial.”. The OED has a definition “Quick in action or discourse; (also) quick in understanding; keen, sharp, vigorous.” None of them quite fit, though the OED one looks promising.
