Chambers 1908 has a plural "scratchings, refuse matter strained out of fat when melted". That's presumably the same as pork scratchings, but might be broader (i.e. not only pork, and/or not intended for consumption). Equinox ◑ 06:41, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
