Not a Misspelling

edit

This is a long establish'd variant spelling of surprise, see Merriam-Webster, surprize. --AnWulf ... Ferþu Hal! (talk) 18:23, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Citation with misleading year

edit

The noun cite of "2011, William Francis Patrick Napier, quoting Charle Napier, 1813" stresses the 2011, when the text is from 1813. The template is so complex I can't see an easy way to improve it. Equinox 01:28, 12 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Smuconlaw Could you sort this out? DTLHS (talk) 01:46, 12 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
@DTLHS, Equinox, seems you guys have sorted it out yourselves. — SMUconlaw (talk) 08:12, 12 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

References

edit

The sole reference cited is Merriam-Webster. But, unlike Wiktionary, M-W doesn't claim that the spelling is non-standard. — This unsigned comment was added by 31.192.197.247 (talk) at 22:58, 14 August 2024 (UTC).Reply

I have added a reference to the OED. J3133 (talk) 00:04, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
