Chambers 1908 makes this distinction: "Treacle: the dark, viscous uncrystallisable syrup obtained in refining sugar, also the drainings of crude sugar, properly distinguished from treacle as molasses". Equinox 14:16, 26 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
