What about characters with no shinjitai form? edit

This template improperly labels Japanese characters with no simplified form (hyogai kanji, like ) as "shinjitai." It should either show "Japanese" or have a separate kyujital labeling.

rename {{ja-forms}} to make room for {{ja-ks}}

Hi. I'm requesting that the template {{ja-forms}} be renamed to {{kanji forms}} to make room for {{ja-ks}}.

  • {{ja-forms}} is used in the Translingual section to list the Japanese (shinjitai), Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese form of a kanji (Chinese character).
  • {{ja-ks}} (short for {{ja-kanji spellings}}) is used in the Japanese section, originally to list the kanji spellings of a Japanese term, but has now been expanded to include the kana spellings as well. As such, the name is no longer accurate. Since a name such as {{ja-spellings}} is too long to type, and since the template is inspired by {{zh-forms}} (despite falling short in functionality), the name {{ja-forms}} would be better.

To make the move would require a bot to update existing pages using the old {{ja-forms}}. -- Dine2016 (talk) 03:19, 28 December 2018 (UTC) Reply

Return to "ja-forms" page.
