Change rendering to horizontal rule edit

I believe a horizontal rule would make the function of this template much more intuitive. This is already explicitly acknowledged in the template documentation. I've made an experiment here (c.f. its appearance under the current template rendering).

Doing this change would entail essentially converting this template from * &nbsp;&nbsp;— to something like {{ws endlist}}<hr/>{{ws beginlist}}. WDYT, @Dan Polansky? Waldyrious (talk) 23:40, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I don't think so. More importantly, {{ws ----}} should be discontinued, and instead, textual quasi-headings should be used since that seems to be more reader-friendly. An example of italicized textual quasi-headings is shown in Thesaurus:animal. --Dan Polansky (talk) 07:13, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree. But in the interests of not making the perfect be the enemy of the good, I would argue that changing how this template renders is a step in the right direction (of making things more reader-friendly). I mean, it is an easy change that would produce a visible (IMO) improvement to the current situation, whereas adding textual headings would take a lot more effort since a human would need to review every usage of this template, figure out what the original editor who added them for each division, and add the headings. It's doable, but will likely take a while to be realized — in the meantime, readers could at least benefit from a more intuitive visual division of the entries.
Unless I misunderstood and you actually think a horizontal line is a worse indicator of a thematic division than the current rendering? --Waldyrious (talk) 12:09, 7 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Something is definitely wrong edit

Here's Thesaurus:tall. I struggle to figure out what the dash means here. Has its look changed after some changes in the design of thesaurus pages?
