Please do not delete SAMPA pronunciations; we want SAMPA on all pages, even if the IPA is present. SAMPA displayes with a simplified character set, and therefore works in more browsers. --EncycloPetey 03:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --EncycloPetey 03:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

PS - Almost all discussions here happen in the Beer Parlour (general & policy), Tea Room (specific words), Grease Pit (technical issues), or Request for Verification (dubious entries). There are just too many little pages (and so few regular editors) that spreading discussion around isn't very practical. --EncycloPetey 03:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Transliterations edit

The template {{unicode}} does not display the letters we use for Arabic transliteration properly. The template that works is {{IPAchar}}. This is what we use here. —Stephen 17:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The characters show up fine on my computer but I do see a difference. I thought IPAchar was for IPA. Thanks for letting me know. Ƶ§œš¹ [aɪm ˈfɻɛ̃ⁿdˡi] 23:24, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Arabic transcription edit

Hi. No I don't think there is. So let's do one. I think it is better to follow Stephen's transcription, as it is used in most of the existing entries. Hakeem.gadi 07:04, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
