Hi, welcome to Wiktionary! I see you're a native French speaker and you've been doing a few English to French translations on the requests page so I just wondered if you'd be able to have a quick look at a bit of an email I'm writing? I'm trying to learn French but I often end up translating things a bit word-for-word so I'm not sure how this flows in French:

J'habite en Angleterre mais j'ai été supporter des Chamois depuis près de dix ans. Jusqu'à la saison dernière, je regardais les résumés vidéos de tous les matchs mais maintenant je ne peux plus les regarder. Pourquoi? Sera-t-il possible pour les supporters étrangers de voir les vidéos la saison prochaine?

Your French is near perfect: 1/ mais je suis supporter des Chamois depuis près de dix ans; you still are a supporter, hence the present. If you are no longer a supporter: mais j'ai été supporter des Chamoix pendant près de dix ans. 2/ Two questions in a row (but perfect French)? I wonder if what you meant to say was: Parce qu'il n'est pas sûr que les supporters étrangers puissent voir les vidéos la saison prochaine. 3/ Put a (non-break) space before the exclamation mark and the question marks.

Thanks, I forgot the spaces before the question marks. And you're right with the je suis supporter bit. It's meant to say: I live in England but I have been a supporter of Chamois (Niortais) for almost ten years. Until last season, I used to watch the video summaries of all the matches but now I can no longer watch them. Why is this? Will it be possible for foreign supporters to watch the videos next season? entrejeu

Hi there. I recently created an entry at entrejeu, with the sole definition "(soccer) midfield". This is also the only meaning given on the French Wiktionary page. However, I know there are other meanings because I came across several non-football-related usage while trying to find citations. What are the meanings of these other senses? @BigDom. Hello. Sorry for this late answer. I cannot answer to your query: surprisingly, it's very difficult. I cannot find an other definition. The word is not in the Dictionnaire de l'Académie française, not in my Petit Larousse. I will check in my Petit Robert. But according to your citations we can see "entrejeu" as "entre-jeu" with all the meaning of "jeu". Jeu = game, working, interaction, acting, manner of playing music, space between two parts, between two activities, etc. The signified, denotations and connotations of "jeu" are rich. No problem, I had expected as much but thanks for taking the time to look. It jusr seems strange to me that a word with so much use (I only chose a tiny selection of all the ones I could possibly have) wouldn't be defined anywhere, even if its surface etymology as entre + jeu is quite clear.
