papagal edit

Could you take a look at my addition of papagal? I'm not sure I have the right form of the enclitic definite article. --EncycloPetey 00:42, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article is fine, but I'm pretty sure the plural is papagali. check Ric | opiaterein 13:53, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. --EncycloPetey 18:31, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

template deletions edit

Hey, I was wondering if you could delete these four templates that I moved, to keep down the clutter and stuff.

Ric | opiaterein 14:51, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

done, normally we would tag them {{rfd}} and make the necessary entry on WT:RFDO but I don't mind doing a bit of tidy up since these were no longer used. --Williamsayers79 05:31, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've just added Romanian to the table of EU languages, but I don't know the Romanian names for all the languages. Could you please add them to the table? They should all go at the end of the lines in the second table, so it should be easy to add them. Thanks, --EncycloPetey 04:51, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

All done! Ric | opiaterein 16:19, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

re edit summary: are you having a bad day or something? Robert Ullmann 00:27, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

LOL no, I just don't like that bot. Ric | opiaterein 00:30, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
what annoys you about the bot? Robert Ullmann 23:13, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Half the edits it makes seem to mark the articles as requiring cleanup. Which... is what I thought it was supposed to do. One of the more irritating ones is the "non-standard header" one. The cat/tag edits would be nice if it would remove the [[Category:xx:yy]] stuff, instead of adding the {{blahblah|lang=xx}} and leaving the extra, useless text. As it is right now, it just leaves extra stuff that remains to be cleaned up. — [ ric | opiaterein ] — 23:30, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
The non-standard header stuff is getting better, as we remove the pre-existing stuff. It does remove the dup cats when it can positively identify them. If you see exceptions, it would be helpful to know. Note that a cay with an explicit key that overrides what went before must be kept. Robert Ullmann 23:35, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

palimpsest edit

This is scheduled to be Word of the Day soon. I thought you might like to know so that you can clean up the little section on Romanian before it hits the Main Page. --EncycloPetey 04:06, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

“Correcting” perceived errata edit

In re your “correcting” ther to there in the 1390 citation for the Middle English word ygo : Be very careful when changing the spellings given in quoted works to what you perceive to be the correct form. Wiktionary faithfully reproduces the works whence it quotes — typos and all; if you think that you’ve found an actual typo, it is best to check the original and/or ask the person who added the quotation if the suspected typo was intentional (that is, included because it was present in the original). When it comes specifically to Middle English, it almost seems as if there’s no such thing as a typo in that language (see the eighty-eight alternative Middle English translations given for necromancy for what I mean).  (u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 20:28, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't entirely sure about that one, being that it was an older version of English. Google didn't help, either. Thanks. :) — [ ric | opiaterein ] — 21:23, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
You’re welcome. Just take care in future. I see EncycloPetey has dragged you up on the same issue.  (u):Raifʻhār (t):Doremítzwr﴿ 01:03, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Editing Shakespeare edit

I have reverted this edit. The word is throughly, not thoroughly. I have checked against the First Folio editiion of Shakespeare's plays. Please do not alter citations without checking the original source. --EncycloPetey 23:51, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Insane-sounding request. edit

Hi,

I have an insane-sounding request: I don't suppose you'd be willing to use | instead of | in your signature? (It displays as the same thing either way.) When your current signature ends up in a template parameter (as when a discussion is archived using {{rfv-passed}}), it causes the wiki software to interpret it as ending one parameter and starting a new one, and some of us take a while figuring this out. :-)

Thanks in advance.

tr= on {infl} edit

See this edit, identifies the transliteration, so it isn't the first italicized descriptor. (And comes before the gender if present). Oh, and Hi! Robert Ullmann 16:37, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wiktionary logo of Wikimedia edit

You seem to have a brighter screen than I can get mine, do you think you could have a look at the version 12b on Wiktionary:Beer parlour#More logo conversation and give an opinion about it please? I think it might be a version which could go to the vote later and it's important to know if it looks good on different screens. Thank you for your help. :) Best regards Rhanyeia 19:57, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

cere edit

Can you help complete this page? I've added the full Latin etymology. --EncycloPetey 22:51, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I meant cere. --EncycloPetey 23:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

WT:BP#Template:wikipedia above English header edit

FYI, it's best not to include curly braces in the rendered text of section headers because it breaks MediaWiki's section links. Also, some parsers, like the ones that hopefully will auto-archive our public forums, have trouble with equal signs in section headers, so it's polite to avoid them. I changed the title in BP for such reasons. Let me know if that change doesn't make sense for you and I'll clarify. Peace. Rod (A. Smith) 07:10, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

pădure edit

This entry needs cleanup, so I thought I'd bring it to you directly. --EncycloPetey 06:25, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS - Are you interested in being an admin? If so, reply on my user page and I'll nominate you. --EncycloPetey 06:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Admins have extra tools for page moves, deleting/restoring pages, and reverting/blocking disruptive vandals. Being an admin doesn't mean you're doing anything you're not already doing, it just means you've got access to a wider array of tools to get your work done. --EncycloPetey 14:37, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sounds okay to me.
Pădure should be ok for now, but theres some commented information that should I'll have to put into new articles for it all to be done. — [ ric | opiaterein ] — 14:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, I've set up the nomination. To accept, you need to edit Wiktionary:Votes/sy-2007-11/User:Opiaterein_for_admin and insert the necessary information. --EncycloPetey 17:50, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Central Europe edit

Is this the correct Romanian translation for Central Europe: Europa Centrală? If so, would you please create the entry? If not, would you correct the translation? The word Central Europe and its translations in the languages of Central Europe is one of my pet projects. --EncycloPetey 17:42, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

"if I remember right, no one was making a bigger deal out of it than he was"

I'm not disagreeing with you, but unless you want to start a war, I would recommend that you <s>strike</s> this comment. I'm not trying to win Connel over, nor would you be able to regardless of what you say there, and you're not going to win anyone else over by inciting riot, with truth or otherwise. I'm not saying you shouldn't defend yourself, but this time, just let the others judge for themselves. DAVilla 21:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think it's alright. I've said everything I wanted to say about the ordeal, so if he wants to argue, he can do it with himself. — [ ric | opiaterein ] — 22:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
