Hi Dubaduba,

Welcome to Wiktionary and thank you for adding those Dutch words. We have a policy of not adding translations between non-English words though. Translations go from non-English to English and from there it is possible to find a translation to other non-English languages. If we don't do this, the project becomes totally unmanageable. Sanskrit

Hi, do you know much Sanskrit? I'm cleaning up the entries from Wiktionary:Requests for deletion#Sanskrit contributions from User:8, and came upon your list of Sanskrit words. The issue came up of transliterations, so your input on whether to use the transliterated word as an entry or the devanagari would be good. Thanks - Taxman 20:36, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Greek pronunciation

Please give Greek pronunciations using standard pronuncation schemes (IPA and SAMPA) only. It is not appropriate or useeful to give them in the Greek alphabet or as ad hoc respellings. For example, πατριά should be:

• patriˈa, /patri"a/

(IPA and SAMPA respectively). Note the tonic accents. Ad hoc schemes ("pat-ree-ah'") are not used in Wikipedia as these are not well-defined (is the first "a" pronounced as in "pay", "pat" or "pa"? Is the final h pronounced?).

I just edited διά, and felt that you, as the original author of the page, ought to be informed. I felt as though there were too many meanings given, so as to rob the reader of any hope of ascertaining the primary thrust of the word. But, I must admit, that it now feels just a bit sparse. Perhaps we could create two separate entries for the gen. and acc. meanings? Take a look and see what you think, and feel free to let me know your thoughts or simply edit the entry.
