Etymology edit
First attested as fulnaho in 944. Compound of the genitive plural form of Old Dutch ful (“foal”) and hô (“elevated place”). The toponym was gradualy reinterpreted as a compound of vol (“full”) and hoeve (“farmstead”). Compare Holthone, Meddo and Wiene.
