Etymology edit

From ãbrė (kneading trough, wooden container for food preservation) +‎ -inas, which is borrowed from Latvian abra (id.), of obscure origin. This term has been connected with Old Prussian aboros, but Mažiulis prefers to analyse the latter as a prefixed formation within Prussian.
