Etymology edit

From Ottoman Turkish آپرمق (aparmak), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (aparmaq), probably from *alıp barmak, equivalent to alıp, converb of almak (to take) + varmak (to go). Compare Uzbek obormoq, Uyghur ئاپارماق (aparmaq) and Azerbaijani aparmaq with the same meaning. Compare also Kyrgyz алпаруу (alparuu), Shor апар (to take away), Kazakh апару (aparu), Southern Altai апар- (apar-, to take away), etc.
