domestication syndrome (countable and uncountable, plural domestication syndromes)

  1. The presence of certain phenotypic traits that are common to domesticated animals: smaller size, lower aggression, variations in coat color, floppy ears, a shorter muzzle, an extended breeding cycle, etc.
  2. The presence of certain phenotypic traits that are common to domesticated plants: lower height, larger grain or fruit size, easier threshing, synchronous flowering, increased yield, etc.
