Etymology edit

From Proto-Albanian *and-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂éndʰos (sprout, germ). Cognate to Ancient Greek ἄνθος (ánthos, sprout, flower) and Vedic Sanskrit अन्धस् (ándhas, Soma, grass, herb). A formation with umlaut of the root vowel from plural *andī̆.[1]
