Etymology edit

ennea- +‎ -gon

Pronunciation edit

Noun edit

enneagon (plural enneagons)

  1. (geometry) A polygon with nine sides; a nonagon.

Usage notes edit

  • While enneagon is etymologically consistent with pentagon, hexagon, etc., in that it uses a Greek prefix and suffix as opposed to a Latin prefix and a Greek suffix, its use is rare; nonagon is the more common term.
