From Ancient Greek Εὐμολπίδης (Eumolpídēs), said to be after an ancestor named Εὔμολπος (Eúmolpos), though perhaps instead from εὔμολπος (eúmolpos, “sweetly singing”) from εὐ- (eu-, “good, well”) + μέλπω (mélpō, “celebrate with song and dance”).
