headstick (plural headsticks)

  1. A stick-like device strapped to a paralysed person's head to allow them to perform activities such as typing on a keyboard.
  2. (printing, historical) A straight piece of furniture placed at the head of a form, between the chase and the type.
    • 1841, William Savage, A Dictionary of the Art of Printing, page 330:
      The sidesticks should be of the full length of the page, and abut against the headsticks on the outside of the form .
