From Middle English isykle, isikel, equivalent to ice +‎ ickle. Cognate with Low German Isjäkel, Ishekel (icicle), Dutch ijskegel (icicle), Danish dialectal jisegel (icicle), Norwegian isjukel (icicle). More at ice, ickle.
